To the northeast of Madrid we find a fairy-tale whereabouts: a reservoir surrounded by a lush pine forest where the Lozoya River flows into the Riato. We are talking about the El Atazar dam, the famous landscape that borders with Patones de Arriba one of the most beautiful villages in the Community. On August 20, this natural paradise will host a piano concert on the water: VoloSwing by Le pianO du lac, a duo of artists who take us back to the Roaring Twenties with their swing jazz music.
An experience to the rhythm of New Orleans
After years of playing in the street and in some festivals, Le pianO du lac is in the middle of a tour in Spain: since August 2, the duo has taken their floating show to Huesca, Alava, La Rioja, Soria and Cantabria. His ‘pedalopiano’, a fun pedal boat, travels around lakes, beaches and reservoirs loaded with instruments. Vöel Martin plays piano and trombone. Laurent Labejof, vocals and percussion. On this occasion, the boat also carries a special guest: the dancer MónicaCofiño.
The floating show will start at 20:30 hours from the Nautical Area of Cervera de Buitrago. There we can bring sheets, blankets and even food to enjoy our own picnic while the music plays. In fact, as there will be no seating at the venue, the picnic option is more than recommended.
The price of the general ticket is 12€ for adults and 6€ for children. Discounts are available for European Youth Card holders, as well as for unemployed people with the corresponding supporting documents.
How to get to El Atazar reservoir
The Nautical Area of Cervera de Buitrago is less than an hour’s drive from the capital. It takes approximately 53 minutes to get there by taking the A-1. By public transport, the trip takes more than twice as long: 2 hours and a half from Plaza Castilla station (line 191, with transfer).
