Little Italy is one of the neighborhoods with the most Mediterranean restaurants in New York. The metropolis, which welcomed thousands of Italian immigrants at the end of the 19th century, cannot deny the influence that the Andean country exerted on the Big Apple. In the culinary field, one of the most significant contributions was pizza, which evolved to give rise to a new variety: the New York style pizza, known for its enormous size and extra cheese.
In Madrid we can find places where this New York variety of pizza is served. Among them is Santo Bakehouse, an artisan bakery in Malasaña (one of the best for breakfast in Madrid) that has just added it to its menu -pricedbetween 12 and 18€, depending on the size- to celebrate its third anniversary in the capital.
A solidarity pizza
On Thursday, November 7, Santo Bakehouse will donate all the money raised from the sale of pizzas to World Central Kitchen (WCK). This solidarity organization has created WCK Spain for Valencia, a new project to help the victims of the DANA that has wreaked havoc in southeastern Spain.
WCK is already collaborating with the Emergency Coordination Center to provide food in the areas most affected by the Levantine catastrophe. It is distributing food to both the victims and the volunteer teams operating in the Valencian Community.
