One of the most captivating images of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been that of the large Olympic cauldron lighting up every night over the sky of the french capital. A scene that after almost a month will not be repeated, but as if it were an echo – “in another time and in another city”, as Vetusta Morla would sing- as of today, a large floating head can be seen in the sky of Madrid.
We owe this peculiar picture to the Veranos de la Villa 2024 Program, which this year has Japan as its guest country and, as a result, it features multiple activities around their art and culture, among which is this art installation by the art collective 目 [mé] -mainly made up of artist Haruka Kojin, director Kenji Minamigawa and technical manager Hirofumi Masui-.
Until now, it was only known to be “an unexpected project that citizens and visitors will discover in due course”. And that time has come: masayume (meaning “dream that comes true”) has already been installed in the retiro Park.
His face is that of a real person who “could be any of us and looks back at us” with one objective: “to confirm our way of being, what we are, visualizing us as part of the landscape,” explained the Madrid City Council.
A floating head… and an itinerant head
Although right now the installation is located in this emblematic Madrid park, throughout the week will visit three other districts: Puente de Vallecas, Usera and Moncloa-Aravaca. An invitation to look up.
This is not the only surprise in the Veranos de la Villa Program: as usual, the Central Patio of Conde Duque will host the following events Something unexpected a concert in which the audience does not know which artist will take the stage until the very moment he/she does so.
The tickets can be downloaded for free from today at 12 noon and on previous occasions have starred artists such as Vetusta Morla, Morgan, María José Llergo carolina Durante or Kiko Veneno.
