“I saw that you left your boyfriend, baby, I’m glad. Vamo’ a celebrarlo en Perro Negro,” sings Bad Bunny in the song he performs with Feid on the former’s latest album -Nadiesabe lo que va a pasar mañana(Nobodyknows what’s going to happen tomorrow). But Perro Negro is not only a song with 877 million plays on Spotify, but also and above all it is one of the most popular nightclubs in Colombia… and the room where Bad Bunny celebrated the after party on the tour of Un verano sin ti.
Defined in a press release as a legendary discotheque in Medellín -which has recently landed in Miami-, Perro Negro also arrives in Madrid. The club sells itself with terms such as the epicenter of perreo or the temple of reggaeton: as a party that “will make you vibrate like never before”.
What is Perro Negro?
Perro Negro was a bar of “good and bad deaths” that opened in 1997, but it was in 2017 when it became the seed of what it is today. To the question of that what it is today, the club itself answers: a safe space for perreo. As “a dark basement where sensuality resurfaces amidst nneon lights and heated dancing takes place without judging anyone.”
An article by Jules Ownby in El País defines the moment when Bad Bunny sings the name of the club in his song with Feid: “Bodies rub with bodies. Guys jump and hug with friends. More alcohol goes from bottles to mouths. It’s total chaos.”
The opening venue is the Salamanca neighborhood and at the helm of this idea is co-founder Samuel Granados, who already anticipated what Perro Negro was like in Madrid through the after party of Karol G ‘s four sold outs at the Santiago Bernabeu. Perro Negro will open on November 14 -just two weeks away- on the Golden Mile.
Granados celebrates the opening: “Times change, but perreo remains. We have managed to create an experience that everyone wants to live”. So, in the absence of a European tour by Bad Bunny -a claim he plays with in an interlude of his latest album: “his flight to Europe has been canceled”-, one of the Puerto Rican artist’s favorite clubs arrives in Madrid amid promises of a unique experience, a different concept.
