Although in Madrid November 1 and 2 are still marked by the tradition of All Saints and the Faithful Departed, Halloween has been gaining ground with horror scenes, costume parties and night plans all over the city. With so much on offer, it’s a good idea to organize ahead of time. And this year, Candlelight Halloween returns to Madrid with spooky tunes that will envelop the capital in a halo of mystery.
Candlelight: Halloween Classics
Charles Gounod ‘sFuneral March for a Marionette , Modest Mussorgsky ‘s ANight on Bald Mountain and John Carpenter’ s Halloween theme song invite the audience to delve into the art of suspense. The string quartet unravels the psychological charge of each work, moving from the most subtle eeriness to a ghostly outburst that is unleashed as the evening progresses.
Each acoustic gesture is magnified under rows of flickering candles. The musicians play with timbre and tempo to create an unearthly atmosphere, where each note whispers, screams or taunts. The classical music of Halloween emerges transformed: more intimate and, at the same time, more thrilling than ever.
And as if this were not enough…
We will also be able to listen to the soundtracks of those mythical scary movies… like never before. Candlelight: Classics of Horror comes to the emblematic Círculo de Bellas Artes with a tribute worthy of a scary movie marathon. The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Exorcist… films whose melodies are here to stay, and now they return to be listened to by a professional string quartet .
Candlelight Halloween at the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid
Thousands of candles transform the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Madrid to give it an almost spectral air. Those who arrive early – doors open 30 and 45 minutes before – can let themselves be carried away by this metamorphosis before a 60-minute concert full of suspense.
In this atmosphere, Dmitri Shostakovich ‘s String Quartet No. 8 plays along with the main themes from Danny Elfman ‘s Nightmare Before Christmas and Ray Parker Jr.‘s Ghostbusters, which take on a special drama under the flickering light. With an atmosphere like this, it’s no wonder it’s one of the most sought-after Halloween plans in Madrid, and anyone who doesn’t sign up in time runs the risk of being left out.
