With the rising temperatures the cool nights are back, and so is the best plan to make the most of them: Madrid’s summer cinemas. Matadero has announced the eighth edition of CinePlaza de verano with tickets at 3.5 euros. Twelve films that explore the intersection between music and cinema, two live musicals with commentary and two open-air cinema-concerts star in this year’s agenda, which has been titled Superstars 2.
Between July 3 and 27, the big screen will be on Matadero’s central square every night from Thursday to Sunday at 10:15 pm. The price of admission will vary depending on the activity: film screenings (in original version with Spanish subtitles) will cost 3.5 euros, while commented sessions will be priced at 5 euros. To access the concerts will have to pay 10 euros.
Commented films
The evening of July 10 should be reserved for watching the musical Cabaret in the company of journalist Paloma Rando, who will comment on the viewing of this 8 Oscar-winning classic, reviewing the career of Liza Minelli, the leading actress.
Lidia García will also comment live on El balcón de la luna, the musical comedy that brings together three great folkloric artists:Lola Flores, Paquita Rico, Lola Flores and Paquita Rico : Lola Flores, Paquita Rico and Carmen Sevilla. The event will take place on July 24.
Open-air cinema-concerts
Movie or concert: why choose? Hidrogenesse will perform with an audiovisual montage prepared exclusively to show the band’s cinephile vein on July 3, as the opening of this edition of Cineplaza (which, by the way, welcomed 5,000 spectators last year).
On July 17, there will be another opportunity to dance: Joe Crepúsculo will cover songs from mythical films of the cinema quinqui, adding rumba rhythms and a few more surprises.
