As of today, flights between Madrid and Barcelona will no longer have a price limit of €99 in economy class. Until now, Iberia had reduced the cost of its tickets to facilitate connections between the two capitals during Adif’s maintenance work.
With the normalization of rail service, the airline has announced the end of its discounts and prices are rising again. On its website, you can already see how flights exceed €100 and even reach €280 on some routes.
14 flights a day

The route operates 14 flights a day in each direction, ensuring that it meets the transport needs of all types of businesspeople, travelers, and tourists. This allows it to maintain virtually uninterrupted coverage from 6:45 a.m. to 9:35 p.m.
Thanks to this, many people who used to travel by train have found an alternative for their journeys. With the new measure, it will no longer be so cheap, and those who used it will have to reassess which transport option suits them best.
Price limits in Malaga and Seville

In the case of Malaga and Seville, the rail connection resumed on Tuesday, February 17, but Iberia will still maintain reduced prices on routes to Madrid. Thus, the maximum price of €99 per ticket will remain in effect on this line until March 8, inclusive.
With this decision, Iberia is giving rail traffic room to normalize and regain the confidence of its passengers, who have been affected by the fatal accident in Adamuz, which left 46 people dead and hundreds injured.
Flights are beginning to return to normal on the route between Madrid and Barcelona and, in the coming weeks, will do so between Madrid and Andalusia, leaving behind aid measures and resuming its air market strategy.
