There are passions that do not understand fashions or generations, and model railroading is one of them. Every autumn, Madrid becomes a meeting point for those who enjoy accurately recreating the world of model trains. This November, EXPOMODELTREN returns to the Palacio de Convenciones de la Casa de Campo, consolidated as the most relevant fair in the country in its specialty. An event that combines technique, history and hobby, and that attracts both veteran collectors and those who discover for the first time the universe of miniature railroads.
This year, the fair coincides with two historical anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the first modern commercial railroad, between Stockton and Darlington (UK), and the 177th anniversary of the first Spanish peninsular train, which covered the line between Barcelona and Mataró. An ephemeris that makes this edition a special occasion to look at the past of the railroad with precision… and in miniature.
Unique models, railway history and a Star Wars set.

The exhibition will display highly realistic modular models, with digital systems, historical settings and reproductions ranging from the Goya Station -a long-gone jewel in the south of Madrid- to a curious Star Wars filming set integrated into a three-rail model (Märklin system).
Among the most striking novelties of 2025 is the recreation of a section of the Río Tinto mining railroad, on its 150th anniversary, and a model inspired by the “El Chicharrón” line , which linked Valladolid with Madrid. The Showcase model, on the other hand, combines a front scenic box with hidden stations and faithfully reproduces the N232 level crossing and the Desfiladero de Oca tunnels.
There is no lack of local references, such as the CIMH0 modular set, where trains operate with real timetables and Madrid stations such as Aluche, Valdemoro or Getafe Industrial coexist with others such as Palencia Norte or Puente de los Franceses.
A family plan with prizes and activities for everyone
EXPOMODELTREN 2025 is not only for experts. In its children’s and youth area, the little ones can learn about the history of the railroad, applied technology and plastic arts, with play areas that turn them into little train drivers for a day. In addition, there will be raffles of initiation sets valued at up to 1,500 euros, a pioneering initiative in Spain.
