The Lion King is much more than an animated saga. It has become a popular culture phenomenon that has inspired fashion collections and Broadway musicals. This is evidenced by the new exhibition that has arrived at the Serrería Belga in Madrid, which pays tribute to the creators of Simba and Mufasa for the 30th anniversary of the first film of Disney’s most famous lions. The exhibition can be enjoyed until Wednesday, November 27, from Tuesday to Sunday. And the best part: admission is free until full capacity is reached.
Simba’s universe in dresses, photos and sketches
30th anniversary of The Lion King takes a journey through the history of the saga, from the first film to the prequel, which will be released in theaters on December 20. It has from original sketches and models of Simba, Pumba, Zazu and many other characters to pieces from a collection of clothing inspired by The Lion King and created by the French firm Balmain.
In addition, the exhibition features photographs of the African landscapes that inspired the scenery of the Kingdom Lands. Also images of actors, musicians and filmmakers who have been behind creative processes related to The Lion King, as well as the creators of the original story, who have kept the essence of the characters alive since the 1990s.
The music is key to the show. It is full of references to The Lion King soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer and winner of two Oscars in 1995. Not to mention the costume pieces used in the Broadway musical based on the saga, which transport to the imposing scenery of the Big Apple.
