It was on May 29, 1924 when a humble neighborhood soccer team was born in a low house in Vallecas. One hundred years later it is a team that has completed its first century of history while playing in the First Division and to celebrate its centenary the Casa de Vacas del Retiro is hosting a free exhibition of Rayo Vallecano.
Although the event was widely celebrated throughout last year at the initiative of the fans and the Bukaneros group, it has taken a little longer to see this tribute – insufficient for the fans – from the club. Specifically, it has been the Rayo Vallecano Centenary Commission that has organized this exhibition entitled One Hundred Years of Club History.
The Rayo Vallecano exhibition is divided into several thematic spaces that show both the evolution of the club and the neighborhood, in addition to “personal objects of the club’s followers that reveal the experiences and memories that have shaped their identity,” they point out. It can be visited until Sunday, January 26, from 10 am to 9 pm.
In this tour there is also room for photographs, historical objects and T-shirts. And to emphasize something that has defined the team since its first steps and that has a lot to do with the very special neighborhood in which it is located: “It not only celebrates the history of Rayo Vallecano, it also highlights the values of diversity, altruism and solidarity” that it has promoted and embodied over the years.
