One of the advantages that Madrileños have is that, if they feel like leaving the capital, they have a few kilometers away cities with a glorious past that today are World Heritage Sites. Segovia, with its Roman aqueduct in perfect condition and impressive medieval fortress, is the perfect destination for a bit of cultural tourism on the weekend. Another great place for it is Alcalá de Henares, birthplace of Cervantes and academic city of the Spanish Golden Age.
On Saturday September 14 comes the ideal occasion to know in depth the secrets of both and thirteen other cities with assets of exceptional universal value: Avila, Toledo, Cuenca, Baeza, Caceres, Cordoba, Ibiza, Merida, Salamanca, San Cristobal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Tarragona and Ubeda. We are talking about the Heritage Night, an event in which there will be guided tours and special activities in the most significant monuments of the chosen locations.
Heritage Night program
The program of this cultural evening is divided into three sections. The first is Abierto Patrimonio, with which palaces, museums, churches and cathedrals will be illuminated differently to host exclusive nighttime tours and plans. In the Alcázar de Segovia, one of the most famous fortresses in the world, legends and anecdotes of famous people who lived there will be told.
The second section, Live Heritage, will host dance performances and concerts of traditional music to selected localities. Finally, Escena Patrimonio will bring contemporary dance companies to the most emblematic places in each city.
