It received the award for Best Artisanal Croissant in Spain in 2010 and from 2020 to 2023 has been recognized as one of the best pastry shops in Catalonia. Now, Hofmann’s Barcelona-based pastry shop is preparing to open in Madrid.
Next April, the Hoffman pastry shop will open its first tasting space in the Galería Canalejas, right next to the Four Seasons Hotel. In doing so, it will bring its famous pastries to the capital and expand its reach.
A menu of fine pastries

The new location will cover 140 square meters and have a maximum capacity of 42 people, who will be able to enjoy both the pastries and the restaurant menu . Among the items available to try are its famous croissants, ranging from the classic butter flavor to others such as chocolate, marzipan, raspberry, mascarpone, and XXL versions.
The opening date has not yet been confirmed, but among its other acclaimed products are its chocolates—which won the title of Best Artisan Chocolate in Spain in 2025— its sweet sculptures inspired by natural landscapes, and its cakes, available in both large and individual sizes.
Hofmann, founded in 1983, has held a Michelin star for over 20 years and in 2008 decided to bring its high quality to pastry-making, which is why many know it as“the Michelin of pastry.”
In addition, the brand has its own Culinary School, considered one of the most prestigious in the sector and where generations of chefs have been trained. Thanks to this, it has become a showcase for emerging talent, with great innovation and freshness in its culinary offerings.
Expansion with a vintage style

Hofmann’s space in Madrid will follow the aesthetic of Madrid’s old kiosks from the 19th and 20th centuries. In this way, it will evoke its first shop in the Born district of Barcelona, which also featured a vintage style to highlight the craftsmanship.
Over time, pastry shops have modernized, and a good example is the shop on Pau Casals Avenue, which has been open for almost three years and resembles a jewelry store.
The bakery’s arrival in Madrid has gone hand in hand with a new production center in Badalona, specializing in R&D and featuring a 1,200-square-meter facility. According to El País, this has involved an investment of 700,000 euros and will allow the bakery to double its production of pastries and baked goods. With this move, the brand is committed to expanding its famous sweets beyond Barcelona.
