In Madrid you can swim in the largest pools in the country, in the middle of nature or even surrounded by sand. But only next Sunday, August 31, you will be able to do it accompanied by dogs.
The municipal saltwater pool of Parla, celebrates the day “Al agua perros” on the last day of the season, Sunday August 31. The aim is to encourage the relationship between people and animals, giving a space for dogs and ensuring that regular users are not disturbed.
Coexistence in the water
From 10 am to 9 pm, bathers and their pets will be able to enjoy this event in the south of Madrid. Admission will be free for dogs and donations can be made to the protective Parla collaborating with the initiative. For registered residents, the ticket at the box office will cost 7.53 euros and for the rest of adults, 12.75 euros.
This activity combines leisure, coexistence and respect for animals, as highlighted by the councilman of Animal Welfare of Parla, Alberto Rico Esteban. From the City Council have established several rules to ensure the responsibility of the owners of the dogs and prevent them from posing a danger to other users of the enclosure.
Among these measures, it is included to carry the documentation of the animals, provide vaccination certificates and keep the muzzle in case of being classified as a potentially dangerous animal. Dogs must be supervised by an adult at all times, who is responsible for their actions and for picking up their droppings.
Almost a dog beach

“Al agua perros” is the closest plan to spending a day at the beach with your pets because Parla’s swimming pool is saltwater. It has more than 3,000 square meters of aquatic surface, is surrounded by sand and has a progressive entrance, which perfectly simulates the access to the sea.
