After being the guest country at the Veranos de la Villa, Japan continues to make its mark in the Spanish capital with one of the most anticipated events: Japan Weekend Madrid. This year’s second edition (the first was in February), will take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, in halls 3 and 4 of IFEMA.
Japan Weekend Madrid is the ideal space for all lovers of Japanese culture. From cosplay contests and concerts, to workshops, merchandising, board games and video games, the event offers endless activities for all tastes. Highlights include a Pokémon zone, where official championships will be held, attracting both novices and experts from around the world.
Guests and signings at Japan Weekend
For fans of Japanese art and music, this edition will feature Akeboshi, the singer known for the Naruto endings “Wind” (ED1) and “Yellow Moon” (ED13). Also, the illustrator Sakizo, the mangaka Tanishi Kawano, and the popular cosplayers Cowbutt Crunchies, among others, will be present. There will be signing sessions for many of the guests, so fans will have the opportunity to meet their idols up close.
It’s not all cosplay and anime: the event will also offer a Talent Show to find the best performance and imitation of a K-pop, J-pop or M-pop group, along with a karaoke area.
