Our conception of time and distance has been changing as a result of advances in transportation. What used to be far away is no longer so far away and journey times have been reduced considerably, thanks in part to high-speed trains. In this context, airlines are also looking for their own ways to continue to grow and attract travelers, and a case in point is the recent announcement by American Airlines to expand its routes to Europe. As a result, it will connect for the first time in its history the cities of Madrid and Chicago.
In these terms Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Schedules, said: “We look forward to offering customers more ways to visit their favorite destinations in Europe next summer.”
In all, the carrier will resume nonstop flights to Edinburgh (EDI) for the first time since 2019 and add new routes to Athens (ATH), Madrid (MAD), Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO).
Madrid-Chicago route start and ticket sales
The daily service between Chicago (ORD) and Madrid (MAD) will start operating on March 30 and will become the American airline that offers more flights to Spain. On the other hand, the type of aircraft that will provide the service will be a Boeing 787-8.
As for tickets, they will be available for purchase from next Monday, September 9 both on the airline’s website and on its app.
