If you’re furnishing an apartment in Madrid this September, here’s your chance to snag luxury pieces at very affordable prices. The startup ECO-ONE is launching a new edition of The Hotel Drop, its online sale of secondhand hotel furniture, featuring items from four Madrid hotels. The sale will run from September 3 to 6 (or while supplies last), with prices starting at 9.99 euros.
The catalog features many items that were previously at the Hotel Zentral Castellana Norte, Hotel Nuevo Boston, and Hotel Miguel Ángel. Prices previewed by ECO-ONE include mirrors for less than 60 €, armchairs with footrests for less than 55 €, headboards for 22 €, and wall sconces for less than 10 €. All items can be purchased through their website and must be picked up in person in Madrid.
How to register for the special sale
To access the sale, you must register for free at eco-onemarkets.com. Those who complete registration before Thursday, September 3, will receive priority access—a feature that made all the difference in the previous edition: the inventory sold out on the first day. In April, more than 20,000 people registered for that online edition, which gives an idea of how quickly the items are snapped up.
The initiative is not new. A year ago, ECO-ONE organized an in-person flea market at the Hotel ME Santa Ana, which was a huge success with more than 2,000 buyers and 43 metric tons of salvaged items, and has since replicated the model in Paris, where it attracted over 3,700 interested buyers. The model has evolved and is now a regular event, exclusively online, and operates in the form of surprise drops, making each drop a one-of-a-kind experience.
Behind the project lies a circular economy approach: hotels offload furniture they no longer use, preventing it from ending up as waste, while buyers gain access to quality pieces at prices well below market value. “These are exclusive pieces with a history, and that generates more interest among people,” explains Carlos Fluixà, CEO of ECO-ONE, who points to the timing as a decisive factor: “September is a time when many people return to or move to Madrid and need to buy furniture.”
