Madrid is preparing for a winter turn just in the key dates of Christmas, with a change of weather that will leave behind the mild maximums of the beginning of the month to give way to much colder days, unstable and with options of snow in the Community. The models point to temperatures between 3 and 5 degrees below last week, with changing skies and the arrival of several fronts that will drag polar air and plummet thermometers in the final stretch of December.
According to forecasts Meteored and eltiempo.es, the cold will be felt both day and night, with highs that will hardly exceed 10 ° C in the center of Madrid and minimum hovering around 0-3 ° C in many municipalities in the metropolitan area. This decline will be more marked between the weekend before Christmas Eve and December 24-25, when the cold front may consolidate, although it is still too early to say for sure.
Snow in the mountains and the possibility of flakes at mid-elevations

The AEMET and other services point out that snowfalls will be safe in the Sierra de Guadarrama and the rest of the mountain systems of the central peninsular, thanks to a snow elevation that will drop from 2,000 to 1,500 meters, and even to 900-1,200 meters in some episodes. This opens the door for the flakes to appear in mountain villages and, more occasionally, in middle altitudes of the region, although in the capital it is likely that the precipitation will remain in cold rain except for very occasional drops in temperature.
Frosts are expected in high areas and inland valleys, with records near or even below 0 ºC in rural and mountain areas. In the city of Madrid itself, minimum temperatures may be around 1-4 ºC, with wind chill even lower due to the wind, making it necessary to wrap up warm at night or early in the morning.
