The historic center of El Escorial will be transformed into a scene from another era from April 24 to 26, 2026, to celebrate a new edition of its medieval market. Over the course of three days, the area around the Town Hall Square and its surrounding streets will be filled with musicians, merchants, artisans, and fantastical characters mingling with locals and visitors.
Amid this festive atmosphere, you can stroll among stalls offering artisanal products and traditional cuisine, while traveling shows, street entertainment, and live music will pepper the event with moments of relaxation through their performances.
The market will open its doors on Friday, April 24, at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude on Sunday, April 26, until the next edition with a grand parade at 8:30 p.m., featuring all the troupes and musicians as the grand finale of this medieval market.
Program for the 2026 El Escorial Medieval Market
Among the program’s highlights, both on Friday and Saturday, you can attend the fire and aerial show *El susurro de las llamas*(The Whisper of the Flames), presented by Grusgrus, which will take place at 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM, respectively.
A classic feature of medieval markets in the region that will also be present in El Escorial are the musical parades of Gálata, which will fill the event with rhythm. Also worth mentioning are some of the characters who will be seen in the town’s streets, such as the fortune-teller Madame Toilette, Don Emérito de los Bosques, La Maga Polilla, and El Mago Caracol.
