A cultural experience that will host meetings, conversations and literary activities for all audiences arrives in Madrid. More than 300 authors, cultural institutions, bookstores and libraries from all over the city will participate. This is the Night of Books, which on April 25, 2025 will delight us with 500 free activities.
This twentieth edition, the event will be part of the commemorative program of the Cuesta de Moyano Centennial (1925-2025), which celebrates 100 years of bookstalls with booksellers at the exit of the Retiro. Therefore, there will be a literary treasure hunt on the mythical slope.
In addition, at 12:00 and 18:30, the Lope de Vega House Museum ( an underrated jewel hidden in the iconic neighborhood of Las Letras) will present a recital in which, through the author’s own writings and correspondence, the personality of the genius of the Golden Age will be revealed.
More activities to do during Reading Month
April is the month of Sant Jordi: the perfect time to fill the shelves with new books. In addition to writing down the Book Night in the agenda, it is recommended to readers of the city (fewer and fewer in number, for lack of time or motivation) to stop by one of the clubs that hide these cafes and bookstores.
