A unique collection in the world
.
Situated in the heart of the Chamberí neighborhood, this museum preserves the essence of the Madrid home and workshop where Sorolla spent the last years of his life. It collects the incredible legacy of the multifaceted artist who is today considered the greatest exponent of Spanish luminism.
Some of the works on display here are the beach scenes with which the painter rose to fame, such as Paseo a la orilla del mar (1909), Nadadores, Jávea (1905) or Muchacho a la orilla del mar, Valencia (1904). In addition, we find furniture of great artistic value, such as the set of lamps designed by the goldsmith Louis Comfort Tiffany or the dining table that the sculptor José Capúz made specifically for the Sorolla family.
.
It’s worth losing yourself in the building’s eclectic rooms and sitting in the well-kept garden (one of the most beautiful in Madrid) in neo-Arabic style that welcomes the building, which is on the list of the five must-see small museums in the capital.
