At a time when everything seems to be diluted in virtual clouds owned by large corporations, it’s perhaps understandable that more and more people want to hold their favorite records, movies, and books in their own hands. This September, collectors of physical music formats have a date at the Madrid International Record Fair, which will hold its 29th edition on September 26 and 27.
The fair will bring together between 130 and 140 specialized exhibitors offering vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, music merchandise, and books from around the world. Must-have classics and the latest releases will be available, but the biggest draw for collectors will be finding rarities and out-of-print editions that aren’t available on streaming platforms.
In addition, the fairgrounds will feature a food court, and there will be live performances, DJ sets, album and book presentations, and panel discussions with artists and professionals from the music industry. Although the guest lineup for this September has not yet been announced, past visitors have included, for example, George DuBose, the official photographer for The Ramones.
Location, hours, and tickets for the Madrid International Record Fair
The Madrid International Record Fair will be held at the Convention Pavilion of the Casa de Campo Fairgrounds, near the Alto de Extremadura (Line 6) and Lago (Line 10) Metro stops. The hours will be:
- Saturday, September 26: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Sunday, September 27: 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
As for tickets to enter the venue, there are two categories:
- Day passes for both Saturday, the 26th , and Sunday, the 27th, cost €5.12.
- A weekend pass costs €9.22.
Tickets can be purchased through the official website of the Madrid International Record Fair. Tickets are not required for children under 12, who may enter for free. Dogs are also allowed on the premises as long as they are on a leash.
