In the heart of the Salamanca district (Calle Fernán González, 29) there is an unconventional outlet: here they don’t sell clothes, furniture or household items at lower prices than usual. What you will find in Outlet de Vinos are, consistently, wines and spirits with great discounts.
The reason that justifies that it can offer such adjusted prices -that it has been doing so for three years now- has to do with the fact that these are “wines with overstock, or changes of vintages, stained bottles from other stores… but they are wines that are in perfect condition“, as Ana Osorio, the then manager of the store -place currently occupied by Joaquim Garriga- explained to us some time ago.
Thus, among the numerous references of wines -and also of gins, tequilas, rums, whiskies, vodkas…- that can be found in the establishment , discounts can range from 10% to 60%.
On the other hand, you don’t need to be an expert in the field: even if you know as much about wine as Emilio, the staff can guide you to take home the most appropriate bottle for the occasion.
How does the Wine Outlet work?

The Outlet de Vinos system, if it resembles anything, it resembles luck: “The stock is renewed every week and the units are limited. You can only buy what you see in the store and at that moment. There is no announcement of the references that arrive, they are not reserved,” explains Judith García, head of communications.
There is also no catalog or price list and they do not sell their products online or send them to your home. In short: if you want to take any of their bottles you will have to go physically to the store and find out on the spot what references are available.

What is certain is that any of them will come from the stock of Vila Viniteca, distributor and retailer, which has “a huge warehouse in the Barcelona town of Esparraguera where approximately one million bottles” of 11,000 different references between wines and spirits are kept.
On Fridays and Saturdays, on the other hand, they open bottles “so that our customers can try them while they are shopping”, adds García.
