The residents of Tetuán will witness an event that has not taken place in Madrid since Vicente del Bosque coached Real Madrid. 2002 was the last year in which a municipal swimming pool was inaugurated in Madrid.
Paloma García Romero, delegate of Works and Equipment of the Madrid City Council, announced yesterday that the works of the Tetuán summer swimming pool (at number 125 Paseo de la Dirección) are already finished.
The pool was not ready for the opening of the pool season (May 15), but by mid-summer. Garcia Romero confirmed in April that the pool, announced in 2022 the new plant is expected to be available by the end of July or the beginning of August. And finally it has been in early August.
The delegate of Works and Equipment has also said the following: “It has been 32 years since no summer swimming pool was opened in Madrid and we have opened two, the one in Barajas and this one in Tetuán”.
what is the new Tetuan swimming pool like?
The enclosure in which the pool is located has a surface area of 1,394 m2. Inside there is a swimming pool of 25×25 meters and a splash pool that is circular and has a diameter of 7 meters, but also changing rooms, bathrooms, checkroom, lockers and first aid kit.
The capacity of the pool will be 250 people and will have three types of tickets: the morning shift, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the afternoon, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., and the full pass, throughout the day.
This new facility in the district of Tetuán (where 160,000 people live) will mean that the residents of the neighborhood will not have to make a pilgrimage to neighboring districts such as Moncloa-Aravaca (Francos Rodríguez) or Fuencarral (CDM Vicente del Bosque). Thus, there will be “only” five districts in Madrid without a swimming pool: Salamanca, Chamartín, Chamberí, Retiro and Centro.
