Going on tour like a singer and setting up pop-up stores in real houses – in the sense that people live in them, not that they belong to royalty – rather than in conventional retail spaces. Swedish designer Gustaf Westman is used to doing things the same way he creates his original and colorful pieces: in his own way, without sticking to the established or the predictable.
The result has crystallized this summer in this European tour of ephemeral stores that has already had stops in Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris and Amsterdam and this weekend guides his steps to Madrid, where he will remain installed only on September 6 and 7 at number 8 of Leganitos street from 11am to 6pm.
At the event it will show and sell its iconic designs, which have long enjoyed great popularity in social networks -see the case of its curved mirror, to which celebrities such as Olivia Rodrigo have fallen surrendered-.

“I love the idea of bringing my objects into real homes rather than a showroom or an empty space. I find it a genuine way to display the pieces, as if that’s how they should look, and also a fun way to connect with our community,” Westman says of the event.

In each of his visits Westman has designed a piece linked to the city in question, and in the case of Madrid he has opted for a cup and saucer set with an inspiration that draws on the Spanish clichés for which we are known beyond our borders: a polka dot pattern. In his previous stops he designed a mug with piercings for the Amsterdam pop-up and a baguette holder in Paris.
In addition, there is a whole specificmerchandising around what he has dubbed his summer tour : from T-shirts and socks to postcards and key chains. On the other hand, in autumn she will launch a collection in collaboration with IKEA, of which for the moment only a plate to serve her famous meatballs has been revealed.
Tilda Swinton and the Salesas pottery store

The interest of celebrities in design and unique pieces has a great example in Tilda Swinton and her love affair with La Oficial, a ceramics store located at 43 Pelayo street, to which she fell in love during the filming of The Next Roomby Almodóvar.
In the same neighborhood, Salesas, a new edition of the craft market The Festival by Salesas will be held this Saturday, September 6, from 11:30 am to 8 pm in Campoamor, Orellana and Santa Barbara streets.
