Whether it’s hot or cold, the streets of Madrid always find an excuse to set up craft stalls in them. To celebrate the arrival of autumn, a fair organized by the Asociación Madrileña de Oficios Artesanos (AMOA), to which more than a hundred local companies belong, returns to Recoletos. The event’s 52 stalls will be open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm from Monday, October 21 to Sunday, November 3.
Thousands of unique products
In the sixth edition of this Autumn Fair we will find projects such as Olek’Arte, a brand that bets on sustainable fashion with natural fabrics and textile painting. Or Albaca Artesanía, which encapsulates flowers, leaves and fruits in silver accessories. Meiro Joyas, which offers accessories with alternative designs: earrings in the shape of pencil sharpeners, octopus-shaped rings, and other unconventional objects.
Artisans like Rodolfo, a carver and restorer who has been creating unique figures in ivory, bone, wood and many other materials for more than thirty years, will be present. José Díez, also a veteran of the association, will exhibit his handmade leather bags.
AMOA was created in 2020 with the union of two historic associations in Madrid: Artesanos de la Villa and Gremio de Artesanías Varias. The merger of the two has resulted in a great set of small businesses that puts original design and in-house authorship as a priority.
Spring, Easter and Christmas are other dates the association usually chooses to organize its craft fair. It is expected to return to the streets of Madrid during the Christmas holidays in 2024.
