From El secreto de sus ojos to Nueve reinas and El hijo de la novia, few filmographies are remembered with as much weight in recent cinema as that of Ricardo Darín. Now, the Argentinean actor returns to Madrid, this time on stage, to star alongside Andrea Pietra in Escenas de la vida conyugal, a dramatic comedy that has sold out in all the cities on its latest tour.
The Teatro Rialto will be the stage for his return, from September 3 to 14, with twenty performances scheduled. Tickets, available at the usual sales channels, start at 35 euros.
A play that marked a before and an after
The play, written by Ingmar Bergman in the 70s, was born as a television miniseries in Sweden and was soon transformed into a film and later into a theater. In this version directed by Norma Aleandro, Darín and Pietra play Juan and Mariana, a couple that shows the audience the stages of their marriage, from the moments of love and complicity to the final separation.
Far from being set in a specific period, the play takes place in a timeless setting in which humor and acidity coexist with the harshness of routine, broken communication and infidelity. The result is a satire on life as a couple that makes the audience laugh at situations that are as uncomfortable as they are universal.
From Buenos Aires to Gran Vía
Premiered in 2013 at the Teatro Maipo in Buenos Aires, this version already has more than 700 performances and a million spectators between Argentina, Spain, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. Each city has repeated the same phenomenon: sold-out shows and long waiting lists for tickets.
With a running time of barely 100 minutes and a rhythm that oscillates between laughter and uncomfortable silence, Escenas de la vida conyugal has established itself as a modern classic.
