A fiesta of International Tourist Interest returns to the city of Aranjuez. It recalls a key moment in the history of Spain: the riot that caused the resignation of Charles IV to the throne and the fall of Manuel Godoy. This year, it is presented as a complete cultural experience: its program includes a Goyaesque market; traditional breakfasts; musical performances and even a tour that will simulate the assault of 1808 in the Calle del Príncipe.
Fiesta de los barrios
The big days of the celebration are Friday 6 and Saturday 7 of September. On the 7th we can enjoy the popular fiesta de los barrios in the morning, where there will be chocolatada (with churros), bouncy castles and music in the streets Córdoba, Libertad and Zorzales. At the Clavel traffic circle, in addition to all of the above, giant sandwiches and sangría will be distributed at noon.
In addition, on the 6th a market will open its doors with craft stalls, food products, workshops and face painting for children. It will be in the Garden of Isabel II and will be open both in the morning and afternoon (from 11:00 to 14:00 hours and from 18:00 to 00:00 h).
Historical re-enactments that transport to 1808
Both Friday and Saturday night we have the opportunity to contemplate theatrical performances that will bring us closer to two of the most important events that took place in Aranjuez during the nineteenth century: the assault on the Palace of Godoy (Friday at 21:00 pm in the Plaza de la Constitución) and the famous riot (Saturday at 22:00 pm in the Plaza de Parejas).
Free musical performances
There will be no shortage of classic orchestras and pop-rock bands to add atmosphere to the Festas del Motín. Two of the groups that will play in this edition are Rock con 3 (Saturday at 20:00 in the auditorium of the city) and Raya Real (Friday at 23:00 in the Plaza de la Constitución).
