Spain heads into its second World Cup match with a sense of urgency that no one expected. The surprising 0-0 draw against Cape Verde in the opener left La Roja with just one point and under pressure to bounce back to avoid complicating their chances of advancing in a Group H that is now wide open.

In their debut in Atlanta, Luis de la Fuente’s team took 27 shots but came up against a memorable performance by veteran goalkeeper Vozinha. Saudi Arabia, for its part, also drew in its first match: a 1-1 tie against Uruguay in Miami, with a goal by Abdulelah Al-Amri and an equalizer by Maxi Araújo in the final stretch, in a game in which goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais was the standout performer.

De la Fuente is cautiously managing the fitness of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, who were dealing with muscle soreness and started on the bench in the opener. Saudi Arabia, led by Georgios Donis, has no significant absences and arrives with a full squad.

The match will be played on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. in mainland Spain (5:00 p.m. in the Canary Islands). The match will be broadcast free-to-air on RTVE’s La 1, which airs all of the national team’s matches, as well as on its RTVE Play platform. The stadium: Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The match will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, renamed “Atlanta Stadium” for the duration of the tournament in accordance with FIFA regulations. Opened in 2017, it has a capacity of 75,000 spectators for the World Cup and boasts a spectacular eight-petal retractable roof inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. It is the same venue where Spain drew with Cape Verde.
