“Everyone says that spicy food can’t be drunk with wine, and that’s not true,” says Mila, owner of Ardor -a small store in Conde Duque specialized in pungency- to Madrid Secreto. That’s why, on Saturday, February 8, she is collaborating with the Local wine shop to organize a night of aperitif and chat. A meeting to demonstrate that wine can be paired with spicy, and of course, an opportunity to experiment with unique flavors.
The tasting will be organized at Local (Calle Palma, 33) and will include the tasting of three natural wines – there will be red, rosé and white, to suit all tastes – with different sauces sold at Ardor. It’s no secret that Mila’s store has a wide variety of potent dressings, so it will be an experience for the most sensitive palates.
The sauces -of a moderate level of spiciness- that will be tasted during the evening are four: a spicy curry inspired by the street flavors of Germany (Berlin Brennt) to combine with the rosé wine; another of habanero with mango from the Caribbean (Crazy Lizard) for the white wine, and two for the red wine: one of spicy honey (Doray) and another very famous one (especially for ceviche lovers): leche de tigre (from La Sarita).
The meeting will last an hour and a half, from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm, and will have a single price of 35 euros (including drinks and appetizers). The treatment will be personalized, so it is recommended to reserve a place in advance (there are only eight!) through the website of the winery.
