Madrid becomes a great celebration of the countryside for a weekend. From Friday to Sunday, those who visit the Festival de Campo at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela will be able to discover -and enjoy- everything the countryside has to offer in first person: flavors, knowledge, trades, animals, outdoor life and activities designed for the whole family. Last tickets on sale.
Far from being just a fair or a market, the Countryside Festival is an immersive experience where you can learn, taste, observe, touch and savor the rural world as rarely in the city.
The event takes place in more than 150,000 m² of natural space and includes a livestock exhibition area with native breeds of cattle, sheep, goats, poultry and horses; a large gastronomic area with showcookings, tastings and samplings of local products; and an outdoor market with more than 100 exhibitors of rural and artisanal products. All this, accompanied by live music and performances by more than ten artists. In total, there will be more than 130 activities.
Everything you will experience at the Countryside Festival
In addition to discovering products and producers, the Countryside Festival goes beyond: it was created with the intention of enjoying the outdoors and making contact with the countryside through first-person experiences. These are just some of the plans that can be enjoyed during these three days in the countryside.
For the foodies, apart from the gastronomic area and the stands dedicated to products, there will be different tastings of wines, oil and cheeses to try them and learn much more about them; also, a course with Pablete, “el Hortelano”, who with the workshop “Cómete la huerta”, will show how to design and make a vegetable garden at home growing our own vegetables.
The more adventurous and action lovers will find here multiple options. There will be a survival course with Maykol García, “the aborigine”, who will show methods and techniques to survive in the countryside; workshops on knots or forest risk prevention or the exhibition of Valsaín log cutters, who will demonstrate their skill in handling the axe; the workshop on how to prepare a backpack (how to optimize space, what are the basic essentials to survive in the middle of nature…); or the activities for the most adventurous and action lovers….); or the activities of the Scientific Expeditionaries Illustrated by Nature (who will teach how to explore wildlife and interpret the tracks and traces of the paths).
A festival also designed for the little ones, as activities such as tribal painting workshops, the presence of the Doñana Fire Donkey Unit, family shows and an area full of animals.
In addition, this year there is a tethered hot air balloon from which you can see the skyline of Madrid and El Pardo (this activity will have an associated cost). And if you have a dog, it will be able to accompany you during the day and participate in some tracking activities or artistic workshops designed for them.
