The jets reach heights of fifty meters, the lights adapt to each spray, the audience applauds, and few realize that the hydraulic system is the original one from the time of construction, dating back to the 18th century. The show featuring the monumental fountains of La Granja de San Ildefonso returns starting this Thursday, April 2, and will run through June 28. Tickets, starting at €5, are now on sale.
As a new feature this year, National Heritage plans to add one more fountain to the tour in June (though this has not yet been confirmed): the Fuente de la Cascada Nueva, which is currently undergoing extensive restoration work. For this edition, it is estimated that 50 shows will be held between April and June, according to National Heritage, “always depending on available water resources.”

Daytime or nighttime show? Plan your visit to the fountains of La Granja de San Ildefonso
La Granja de San Ildefonso is just an hour from Madrid, and a single ticket to see the fountains—made of lead and painted to resemble bronze and marble—costs €5.77 and can be purchased both online and at the ticket office (located next to the entrance to the Palace gardens and open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). We recommend purchasing tickets online in advance, as the majority of tickets are sold through this system.
As every year, both daytime and nighttime shows are scheduled (the latter being the most acclaimed for their spectacular visuals and lighting). For those wishing to visit at night, punctuality is recommended, as the show begins at 10:00 PM and entry to the grounds will not be permitted once the show has started. For these shows, in-person ticket sales at the box office will be available only until 6:00 PM.
This year, the fountains have been divided into two groups. As a result, they will be activated alternately on a weekly basis.
