Turris’ journey began in 2008 with the opening of its first bakery in Barcelona by Xavier Barriga, master baker. Fifteen years and more than twenty bakeries spread throughout Catalonia, the panadería, which has become an institution in the city of Barcelona, has just opened its first store in Madrid and has chosen as location number 27 of Eloy Gonzalo street, in the neighborhood of Trafalgar and within the district of Chamberí.
The philosophy that governs Turris is to “Recover the artisan craft of the baker, the neighborhood bakeries and ovens of a lifetime. This is the only way good bread can reach everyone in all its honesty”. In line with these values, the bakeries are glazed so that the bread making process can be seen by anyone who approaches them.
The opening took place on February 1 and in addition to a wide variety of breads (on their website they specify that they make more than 70 varieties of bread every day) in the workshop you can also find other artisan products such as cakes, muffins, cakes, brioches and biscuits.
High-quality bakeries and pastry shops
The opening of Turris comes to increase the supply of quality bread in the Community of Madrid -according to Club Matador, by the way, the best bread in Madrid is made in Sanchinarro-. Recently, in addition, the region has obtained important recognition in terms of bread, since in the framework of Madrid Fusion Antonio García, the baker of Panem, was recognized as the best in Madrid.
At the same Madrid Fusion Pastry ceremony, it was also announced that the best baker in the city is Ricardo Vélez, from Moulin Chocolat. And if we widen the focus looking for the best pastry chef in Spain in 2022, the title has fallen on Noelia Tomoshigue, the owner of the pastry shop Monroe Bakes, in Getafe, which has not even been open to the public for a year.
