In 1889, it was a kiss of true love that awoke Aurora from her eternal sleep. And now, after Charles Perrault wrote this unforgettable tale, “We call it Ballet” continues to add dates in Madrid to live this magical story between pirouettes, arabesques … and light, lots of light. Professional dancers bring us closer to this lyrical dance born in the Renaissance wearing classical tutus covered with LED lights, making each step of Tchaikovsky’s work a flash in itself.
The Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Teatro Luchana and the Teatro Pavón continue to be the chosen venues to (re)experience The Sleeping Beauty in a completely unique way, on selected dates. Seating is limited, so if you were unable to attend previous performances, be sure to get your ticket before they run out.
What is “We call it Ballet”?
It is a new experience in the capital that combines a dance show and a light show to pay homage to traditional ballet. And while it is true that its music and choreography have come a long way since the 15th century, ballet is still an art form that has never ceased to shine… Even less so in “We call it Ballet”.
Just imagine countless lights illuminating the dancers’ leotards, tutus and tights, elevating classical choreography, set design and music to the next level. All to the strains of Tchaikovsky’s sprawling work, adapted to last the entire 60 minutes of this magical show.
The ballet, its narrative and spectacle
The colors and patterns of the LED lights will adapt during the 60 minutes of the show, enveloping you in the different scenes and emotions of one of the jewels of classical ballet: Sleeping Beauty.
Composed by the Russian master Tchaikovsky and premiered in 1890, the famous story of Aurora and her prince now comes to you through dance thanks to this unrepeatable experience, which will not only feature music and dancers, but also a narrator who will facilitate the understanding of the story with his small (but useful) interventions. Ready to wake up from your eternal sleep with the kiss of “We Call It Ballet”?
Madrid is getting ready to welcome “We Call It Ballet” at the Círculo de Bellas Artes and Teatro Luchana. Two majestic spaces that will open their doors 30 minutes before the start and will assign seats on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on the type of ticket purchased.
