Retirees in the Community of Madrid can now apply for the rental assistance announced by the regional government last September. The benefit, which is estimated to help some 2,500 people in this population group who do not own their own home and are paying rent, amounts to an annual allowance of €525.
The application period began on January 1, 2026, and will remain open until December 31 for the current year. The application can be made on the website of the Digital Administration of the Community of Madrid and will be processed within a period of no more than three months.
This Housing Rental Supplement for Non-Contributory Pension Holders (for disability or retirement), as it is called, is provided in the form of a single payment.
10 key requirements for rental assistance for retirees

The Community of Madrid has established ten requirements that applicants must meet in order to be eligible for this rental assistance, which are as follows:
- Have a non-contributory pension on their payroll, both at the time of submitting the application and on the date of the decision.
- Submit the application within the deadline (from January 1 to December 31 of the year corresponding to the rental assistance).
- Not own a home.
- The property for which the assistance is requested must be the applicant’s usual place of residence.
- Be the tenant named on the rental contract.
- In the case of several tenants who are beneficiaries of PNC, only the one listed first may apply.
- Reside in the property for at least 180 days prior to the application.
- The rental contract must have a minimum term of 1 year.
- You must not be related to the landlord or owner of the rented property up to the third degree.
- The lease must be for a dwelling; leases for commercial premises, garages, or rooms are not valid.
In addition, the following documentation must be submitted with the application:
- Proof of legal representation when the application is signed by someone other than the beneficiary of the non-contributory pension.
- Lease agreement. If there is no agreement, receipts or invoices for rent payments covering a full year, which must include the location of the property and the identification of the landlord (owner) and tenant (renter).
- Annual Income Statement for Non-Contributory Pension holders for the same year as the application for the rent supplement.
