This 2026 we have already released the calendar of holidays in Madrid and the return to the routine always makes us look for those dates in which we can have an extra rest and even plan how we can enjoy more days off spending less vacation.
Fortunately, this year there will be more long weekends compared to the 2025 that we left behind: in total, between national, regional and local holidays, we will have eight and some of them – such as December – will be longer in time.
We break down how the holidays of 2026 are distributed in the city of Madrid month by month so you can plan trips, getaways or excursions throughout the year and make the most of them.

Which days would be better to take vacations?
Taking the above into account, the most convenient days (and which will probably be most in demand) to take vacations and thus extend without spending many days the long weekends that are formed throughout the year will be:
- March and April: March 30 and 31 and April 1. This gives rise to a one-week long weekend (from March 30 to April 5), spending only three days.
- April: from 27 to 30. It gives rise to another one-week long weekend (from April 27 to May 3), this time spending 4 days.
- October: 13 to 16. A seven-day long weekend can be arranged (October 12 to 18) using only four days.
- November: from 3 to 6 and from 10 to 13. This month you can get up to two full weeks off (November 2 to 15) by spending eight vacation days.
- December: 9 to 11 and 21 to 24. A full week of rest is achieved in each period by using only three and four vacation days, respectively.
