Madrid knows ballet. Not only because of what is danced on such iconic stages as the Teatro Real, but also because of the artists it has seen grow: Tamara Rojo, trained in the capital and former director of the English National Ballet, or Goyo Montero, Madrid choreographer at the helm of the Nuremberg Ballet for years. So it is not surprising that Madrid is the city chosen for the arrival of Ballet of Lights La Cenicienta, a show that reinterprets the classic tale and puts it in a new light: the costumes of the dancers.
This experience full of dance and lights will be available on selected dates at Espacio Madriz and will have limited seating for each session. So if you want to secure your seat, better mark your date on the calendar and buy your tickets now (no rushing for the palace and no midnight clocks).
Ballet of Lights: Cinderella in Madrid
There are many ways to tell Cinderella, but none like this one. Here, the three hours that classical ballet works usually last are condensed into a dance experience for the whole family: 60 minutes, four dancers and a visual proposal based on luminous costumes. The result is more direct, more accessible, more impactful. Classical? Yes. How did you expect it? Not at all.
Cinderella told through light, music and dance.
Cinderella was published by Charles Perrault in 1697 and later included by the Brothers Grimm in their collection of fairy tales in 1812. Two different versions, but equally important, have turned this story of princes, stepmothers, enchantments and glass shoes into an absolute classic.
A story that captures… that thrills us… and that, with its mixture of magic and fantasy, it is not unusual that it has ended up in the world of ballet, as Swan Lake or Coppélia did before it. Now it’s the turn of this new version of Ballet of Lights that will enchant you with its original choreography, its dazzling staging and its musical selection, which includes Tchaikovsky’sNutcracker March, the finale of Rossini’s William Tell Overture or Handel’s Zadok the Priest.
After the success of Ballet of Lights Peter Pan, a new show arrives in Madrid: Cinderella. This immersive experience will take place at Espacio Madriz, will last 60 minutes and can be enjoyed in two sessions, at 19:00 and 21:00. And no, you don’t need to wear the glass slipper or dress up like a princess, just buy your tickets and let yourself go.
