Specialty coffee is more than a fad: it has become an object of evaluation for great gastronomic experts. In Madrid there are many coffee shops that prepare it, but only one has entered the list of The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops in 2025.
The ranking of the 100 best coffee shops in the world is elaborated according to the criteria of the public and professionals in the sector such as prestigious baristas and coffee roasters. They evaluate the quality of the products, team experience, customer service, ambiance, innovation and sustainable practices of each establishment. The coffee shops that combine a high score according to the committee of experts and a good rating from the public enter the top.
Madrid coffee in the top 12
Hola Coffee Lagasca has achieved the 12th place in the world ranking, being above the other three Spanish coffee shops that appear: Nomad Frutas Selectas (Barcelona), D-Origen Coffee Roasters (Barcelona) and Kima Coffee (Malaga).
Hola Coffee started as a project of two friends, Pablo and Nolo, who decided to pool their knowledge of the coffee industry to open two establishments (one in Lagasca and the other in Fourquet) serving coffee from their own roastery in the Lucero neighborhood. The company soon began to distribute its star product to restaurants, hotels and offices throughout the capital. Over time, Hola Coffee has become more than just a coffee shop: it is a community of coffee drinkers that even has a podcast and a training academy for baristas.
