We all have an image of bingo in our heads: cards all over the table, Bic pens at the ready, and that voice that sings the numbers with parsimony while everyone else -except grandma who never misses a game- holds her breath waiting to shout “line! Bingo Loco Madrid arrives to turn that scene upside down with loud music, confetti showers and prizes of all kinds. Check your numbers, get out of your chair, and join the party!
What is Bingo Loco?
It’s a hybrid between a theater performance and the energy of a festival. For three hours, there are DJs spinning tunes, rave rounds that get even the shyest person up, lip sync battles, improvised choreographies, dancing on the dance floor and, in between, three games of bingo. All this accompanied by drinks and comedians as masters of ceremonies, throwing witticisms and questions that not even in Saber y Ganar.
Whoever comes alone to sit down has a hard time: there are chairs, but almost no one occupies them while nineties anthems like Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65 play. On the dance floor, a guy dressed as a unicorn may appear, someone may organize an improvised conga and suddenly the prize is as crazy as a lawn mower. That’s the fun: not knowing what the hell is going to happen or what you’re going to take home, except for the certainty of having made a fool of yourself with total freedom.
What are the prizes in Bingo Loco?
The prizes are a secret kept under lock and key until the show starts, although it is enough to look at what has been handed out in other cities to get an idea: international trips, tickets to festivals, cars or even air fryers. Although you know what they say: the important thing is not to win (which is also) but to participate, and in Bingo Loco participating means getting right into the madness. A real and true prize if you think about it.
