The Night of San Juan 2025 in Madrid will once again light up the city and its districts with the force of one of the oldest and most symbolic traditions of the calendar. This year, the big night will be from Monday 23 to Tuesday 24 June, when fire, music and popular rituals will fill squares and parks, officially welcoming the summer and offering thousands of Madrilenians the opportunity to celebrate together one of the most magical celebrations of the year.
Although in the center of Madrid public bonfires are highly regulated for safety reasons, numerous districts and municipalities organize official celebrations with activities to accompany the festival.
The Fiestas de San Juan in Ciudad Lineal will take place on the night of June 23 in two areas of the neighborhood: in the fairgrounds of Derechos Humanos street and in the park of El Flori. This year they have also been accompanied by concerts, parades, children’s shows, DJ sessions and sports activities such as paddle tennis and tennis tournaments, bike rides and craft markets that have taken place over the past weekend.
The Retiro district also celebrates its own San Juan festivities on June 23 from 11 p.m. on Calle Narváez, between Doce de Octubre and Ibiza. During the weekend there has been a program of live music, workshops, bouncy castles, parades, musical tributes, lemonade and family activities preceding the party.
Vallecas will celebrate the Night of San Juan with a symbolic bonfire and a family show in Santa Eugenia Park (Zazuar street, 10P), starting at 22:00. The company Arlequín will offer a show with fire and a burning of wishes specially designed for children, keeping the magic and tradition in this popular neighborhood.
In La Latina, the big bonfire will take place in the Parque de la Cornisa, next to the church of San Francisco el Grande, organized by the association La Corrala. From 23:00, the night will be enlivened with live music by local groups and the start of the open-air summer cinema in the Parque de la Bombilla, creating a festive and multicultural atmosphere in the heart of Madrid.
Vicálvaro also recovers its traditional bonfire of San Juan, which this year will be held at the corner of Paseo del Polideportivo and Calle del Arroyo del Hoyo, at the neighborhood fairgrounds, at midnight. The program includes concerts such as Maldita Nerea, foam party with firemen and children’s activities, within a festival that runs from June 23 to 26 and each year brings together hundreds of neighbors around the fire and music.
Bonfires of San Juan in the Community of Madrid
Beyond the capital, municipalities such as Alcobendas (Parque de Andalucía) and San Sebastián de los Reyes (Parque de la Marina) keep the tradition alive with bonfires. In all these places, fire is the main protagonist: jumping over the bonfire is the most popular ritual, symbol of purification and good luck for the coming year. In Alcobendas there will be children’s workshops, live Celtic music and other activities from 8 pm. Meanwhile, in San Sebastián de los Reyes there will also be children’s activities from 8:30 p.m. and free queimada tasting.
