The concept of tapas tours has established itself in recent years as one of the city’s most popular forms of culinary entertainment, with events that highlight the quality of local establishments by offering a tapa and drink at a fixed price, lower than usual. This is also the concept behind the Bernabéu Area Tapas Route, which begins this Thursday and will run through Sunday, April 19.
A total of 37 establishments are participating in the event, organized by the Chamartín Association of Merchants and Restaurateurs —eleven within the Real Madrid stadium’s dining area and another 26 in the surrounding area.
Each of them has designed a specific tapa for the occasion, which will be accompanied by a small glass of Mahou for a fixed price of €5, and you’ll find dishes ranging from cuisine from all over Spain to international fare.
Thus, among the tapas to choose from are Santoña-style toasts, Balearic brioches with sobrasada, honey, and Mahón cheese, rice dishes with Albufera D.O., Celtic pork shoulder “pulgas,” pork ear brioche, pork cheek bites, cachopín, Mexican empanadas, and durum.
A flea market joins the lineup this weekend
Beyond the culinary offerings of the route, the weekend (April 18 and 19) will also feature a Le Chic Pop Up market, with a variety of stalls selling fashion, home decor, accessories, gourmet products, art, children’s items, and beauty products.
On Saturday, the event will take place in Plaza de Quito from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a total of 30 stalls, and on Sunday it will move to San Fernando Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with ten additional stalls.
