June 2025 marks the end of a stage for public transport users in Madrid: it is the last month in which the extraordinary bonus on the price of the transport pass will be in force, a measure that has allowed thousands of Madrid citizens to travel with discounts of up to 60% since September 2022. This aid, first promoted by the central government and then extended in collaboration with the Community of Madrid, has meant an important economic relief for students, workers and pensioners in a context of inflation and rising prices.
What does the subsidy consist of and how much is paid now?
Currently, the monthly transport pass in Madrid is 60% cheaper than the ordinary fare. For example, the youth pass costs 8 euros, the normal pass for zone A is 21.80 euros and that for zone B1 is 25.40 euros. These reduced fares have been in force for almost three years, allowing savings of between 15 and 30 euros per month depending on the zone and user profile.
As of July 2025, the discount on the transport pass in Madrid will drop from the current 60% to 40%. This means that June is the last month in which users can benefit from the maximum discount, and from the following month the price of the season ticket will increase, although it will still be lower than the ordinary fare thanks to the new 40% discount.
The new prices will be as follows:
Normal season ticket (26 to 64 years old)
- Zone A → 32,80 € (before 21,80 €)
- Zone B1 → 38,20 € (before 25,40 €)

- Zone B3, C1, C2 → 49,20 € (before 32,80 €)
