First there is darkness. Then, five figures appear on stage and the luminous rings begin to rotate, drawing circles that cross each other and change color. In the background, projections of a futuristic skyline and digital streets mark the beginning of a journey called Glow Circus Madrid: a visually stunning show full of acrobatics, dance and light, where the choreographed numbers become a real gateway to adventure.
What is Glow Circus?
It is an ode to the circus and Japanese culture, where acrobatics and dance combine with traditional costumes and LED-lit costumes and masks to create a hypnotic spectacle. For 60 minutes, performers manipulate sensu fans, wa-gasa umbrellas and other props, while projections transform the stage into bustling streets, natural landscapes and scenes that jump from historic Japan to an imagined future.
The Story Behind the Glow Circus Numbers
Glow Circus opens with a musical prelude and projections. Between light and shadows, Leya enters an elevator that takes her to different worlds. A market festival full of lanterns, a quiet landscape inhabited by spirits or a scene where tradition and technology coexist are some of the stops on a journey between the past, present and future, which will end up being a transforming experience for the protagonist.
In each world, the artists act as guides through disciplines such as the cyr wheel, diabolos or the hula hoop, which adapt to each environment: sometimes they take the center of the action, other times they are integrated as details that complete the scene. Music and projections reinforce each of these moments, making choreography, acrobatics and light work together to give each chapter of the journey its own personality.
Glow Circus Madrid will bring its mix of circus, light and Japanese aesthetics to the Teatro Fernando de Rojas, with performances at 18:30 and 20:30 so you can choose the time that best suits you. An opportunity to see how each circus discipline, projection and costume detail are combined in a show that travels between the most traditional Japan and its futuristic side.
