Between songs – of Rosario Flores and Gipsy Kings, specifically – the mayor of Fuenlabrada, Javier Ayala, announced it: the auditorium of the new Parque Ferial de Fuenlabrada, inaugurated this past weekend, will be named after Joaquín Sabina.
The singer-songwriter, who is currently immersed in his farewell tour of the stage -christened Hola y adiós-could not attend the event, but he did want to convey a message of thanks: “That they have decided to name the auditorium after me is a dream that even I would not have dared to dream of“.
The artist, according to statements collected by the local consistory, has expressed his willingness to take his songs or his verses to the auditorium sometime. The mayor fuenlabreño, meanwhile, said that with this gesture has wanted to recognize the work and career of “one of the great references of the culture of our country”.
