The El Bulevar shopping center will be the setting for El Déballage de La Moraleja on Sunday, February 22. A French-style flea market where more than 30 trucks will unload furniture and antiques, including stately sofas, upholstered armchairs, gilded mirrors, antique tableware, paintings, lamps, and pieces that are impossible to categorize, all coming directly from luxury homes in the area to live a second life at much more down-to-earth prices.
The concept comes from the déballage markets in the south of France: antique dealers, decorators, and individuals who empty warehouses, large houses, and second homes to bring out onto the street everything that does not fit into their new décor, from designer furniture to family heirlooms. Here, the format is adapted to Madrid’s idiosyncrasies and will be held at the El Bulevar Shopping Center (P.º de Alcobendas, 10).
A furniture market in La Moraleja

From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the central promenade of the shopping center is filled with stalls and corners that are more reminiscent of a Provençal flea market than a shopping center on the A-1: lots of wood, velvet, gilding, vases, wicker pieces, figurative art, and the occasional kitschy item that will be the highlight of any living room.
In addition to being a great weekend plan for decoration lovers, the market has a charitable component: part of the proceeds and parallel activities involve foundations and social projects linked to Alcobendas and La Moraleja. El Déballage is shaping up to be an essential event for those who enjoy hunting for bargains and objects with patina… and want to take a peek inside some of Madrid’s most exclusive homes, which are now on display.
