Madrid Metro Line 6 will operate nonstop on weekends once its full automation is complete. Known as the Circular, the line will remain open from the start of service on Friday until the end of the day on Sunday, including at night.
The measure is expected to take effect in 2027, when construction is completed and the new driverless trains begin operating. Automation will make Line 6 the first fully automated line in the Madrid Metro network.
With more than 430,000 daily riders, the Circular’s 24-hour operation will facilitate weekend nighttime travel between neighborhoods such as Moncloa, Ciudad Universitaria, Cuatro Caminos, Príncipe Pío, Legazpi, Méndez Álvaro, Pacífico, Conde de Casal, and O’Donnell, among others.
