Although the meaning of “green tide” in the national context refers to something very different, if we broaden our gaze abroad—specifically to Ireland—and also consider the dates we are currently in, the context quickly takes us to another place: the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and, with it, its legendary parade.
This tradition will return to the streets of Madrid, specifically to Gran Vía, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with a record attendance of more than 250,000 people expected—last year, the event brought together more than 200,000 attendees.
During this event—organized, incidentally, by the Guinness beer brand, which will participate with its characteristic bus— the legendary band U2 will be honored. However, the parade is not the only St. Patrick’s Day celebration that Madrid will host.
This St. Patrick’s Day parade in Madrid is part of the fifth edition of Irish Week, an initiative of Tourism Ireland, which will run from March 10 to 17, 2026, with a varied program of activities.
Concerts in Callao for St. Patrick’s Day

The program includes a series of concerts on Saturday, March 14, between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in the Plaza de Callao.
Throughout the morning, prior to the parade—between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.—several performances are scheduled, and in the afternoon, at the end of the parade, St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band, one of the most famous in Ireland and the world, will perform.
