After a two-year hiatus, Madrid is bringing back one of its Christmas classics. Naturaleza Encendida returns to the capital with a new edition, more interactive elements, and a new location. This time, the immersive event features a tour inspired by Alice in Wonderland, set in the Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden at the Complutense University.
From November 24 to January 10, 2027, visitors can enjoy a tour stretching over one kilometer, featuring large-scale light installations, tunnels of light, and video mapping. But they won’t be alone—actors will bring the characters from the famous story to life at various points along the route.

A key Christmas event in Madrid

Lewis Carroll’s novel, published in 1865, continues to fascinate readers of all ages. This time, characters such as the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts will step off the pages of the book to come to life at the Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden at the Complutense University.
At the botanical garden, technology and theater will come together. In addition, an original soundtrack will accompany the walk, which will last approximately 45 minutes. And before heading home and leaving the illuminated nighttime paths behind, visitors can refuel in the venue’s dining area.
A living, open-air laboratory

Opened in 2001, the garden at the University City campus typically hosts events such as the Noches del Botánico, but it is also the ideal setting for the characters from Alice in Wonderland. This living laboratory is home to more than 800 botanical species, as well as a collection of conifers, a wild pine forest, and a riverside woodland. Without a doubt, the site’s natural and scientific richness will make the journey down the rabbit hole a special experience.
Beyond Madrid
The organizers of Naturaleza Encendida typically choose historic sites of great heritage value for their light shows. In addition to Madrid, the event will come to other cities with shows featuring different themes.
In Seville, for example, the Royal Alcázar—a filming location for *Game of Thrones*—will host a tour dedicated to Bizet’s opera *Carmen*. Meanwhile, in Córdoba, the gardens of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos will serve as the setting for the first historic meeting between Christopher Columbus and the Catholic Monarchs.
