As every year, the December long weekend brings with it two of the most awaited national holidays. Both are very close in the calendar: Saturday, December 6 is Constitution Day and Monday, December 8, the Immaculate Conception.
On this occasion, the holidays will only mean an extra day on the weekend, but many establishments will see their opening hours affected. Throughout the long weekend, many supermarkets will remain open, while others will modify their opening hours, reduce services or close completely.
Mercadona: Sunday and Monday closed
Although Saturday, December 6 is a public holiday, Mercadona will follow its usual opening hours and will be open from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm. However, it will remain closed during Sunday 7 and Monday 8, so it will be important to plan your shopping in advance.
Carrefour and its Express stores
Carrefour hypermarkets will continue with their usual opening hours on public holidays, so there will be no need to look at the day on the calendar before heading out to do your shopping.
Its Express stores usually operate during every day of the year, but in the case of the smaller ones they may opt for reduced opening hours. This is a measure that will be adopted by each store, so check your store locator.
Lidl and Alcampo
In general, both Lidl and Alcampo usually keep their usual opening hours during public holidays and on this occasion they will not make an exception.
Lidl usually opens from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm or 10:00 pm, varying their closing times depending on the store. For this same reason, it is advisable to check each specific case in their search engine and make sure you don’t go shopping and find the doors closed.
Alcampo also tends to keep its stores open and, in general, will maintain its usual service during the long weekend. In some cases, on Sundays they have special or reduced opening hours, which should be confirmed on their website.
Aldi and its special opening hours
Like Mercadona, on Saturday, December 6, Aldi will keep its usual opening hours, which are usually from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm.
On both Sunday, December 7 and Monday, December 8, its hours will vary depending on the store. While some will keep the Sunday break, others will be open reduced hours. There are differences in each store, so it is best to check each case on their website.
