702 square meters, privileged views of Madrid, designer furniture and a lot of glamour. This is the penthouse that Agatha Ruiz de la Prada has sold for 7.5 million euros in the Castellana, the small Manhattan of the capital.
According to Kertz Family Real State, the agency hired by the designer to sell the penthouse, the property has spacious and bright interior rooms: a large living room, a living room, a huge kitchen, a dining room, four bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and two guest toilets.
A luxury apartment in full color
“I have a flaw: I don’t like jewelry. In fact, I don’t have pierced ears. But I love houses, which are much more expensive,” the designer explained in her interview for Architectural Digest.
While showing one of the rooms in her former attic, with thick yellow stripes on white on the wall, she turned to say, “coming to this house is a party.” And both quirky shapes and color have always been must-haves in the designer’s home. The green and blue striped floors, the moon-shaped chair backs and the fun flower-puffs scattered around the living room are proof of this.
The property, which previously belonged to José Luis de Vilallonga, was renovated by Agatha and her father, architect and collector Juan Manuel Ruiz de la Prada y Sanchiz. Throughout the house is present the fondness for collecting contemporary art. One of the works that stands out in the attic is Woman Taking Off Summer Dress, a painting by visual artist Julian Opie.
