From Wednesday, April 2 to Saturday, April 5, the district of Tetuán will host Bajo 35: an Ibero-American festival of contemporary poetry in which there will be workshops, dialogues, recitals, live music and even vermouth. A great opportunity for literature lovers to discover a genre full of emotion.
The festival will be attended by Latin American and Spanish poets -among them, Aurora Luque and Ana María Caballero- who, through different activities, will invite us to pause in a city that goes at a thousand miles an hour and connect with the voices of today’s poetry.
Bajo 35 will take place in four creative spaces in Madrid: the artisan furniture showroom Calma Chechu, the alternative venue Margarita Studio, the Nave Bellver and the Centro Cultural Eduardo Úrculo.
Festival program
On Wednesday, April 2, Bajo 35 will begin with No sé si encender las palabras, a poetry workshop ideal for those who write or want to start doing so. On Thursday 3, after a small sample of poetry on stage, there will be a dialogue on the tension between accessibility and the mystery of poetic language. Writers Daniel Ramirez, Claudia Gonzalez Caparros, Andrea Abello and Reiniel Perez will be present.
On Friday 4, the day will start with a talk on the role of poetry in a fast-paced world, and then, to liven up the afternoon, a live music session with singer Elena Játiva.
On Saturday morning there will be a meeting with poets Sofía Crespo, Juan Gallego Benot, Ángela Segovia and Marcos Nogales, who will explain why they write poetry and what they try to achieve with words. Then, as a final touch, an open microphone will be organized to share and listen to poems vermouth in hand.
